“What’s the best way to work out?”

Talk about a loaded question. But don’t you want to know the answer? I mean it’s almost as complex and intriguing as searching for the fountain of youth. And the answer is pretty much the same – it depends. When it comes to preventing aging or choosing an exercise regimen there is no one size fits all formula.

Stop printing off workouts from getripped.com or bestbutt.com or wherever it is you may be turning to for ideas and instead think about what it is that challenges your body.

Do you get bored on the treadmill? Do you like to punch things? Do you like to move to music? Do you enjoy lifting heavy things? What makes you feel like you have really accomplished something when it comes to exercise? Most importantly, what are you trying to get out of your workout regimen?

Someone who wants to lose weight is going to work out completely different from someone who wants to compete in a body building competition. My job as a personal trainer is to tailor each and every workout I create to align as close to the client’s goals as possible. So before you step back on to the elliptical or use the assisted chest press, ask yourself what you want to accomplish with your time at the gym. And then go and do things that will take you one step forward. That’s the best way to work out. Because staying the same is not an option.
